With over 2000 castles, romantic spa towns, and beautiful architecture, there’s no denying that the Czech Republic is one of the most romantic countries in Europe. Out of the many romantic places you can visit, Pilsen has to be at the top of your list.  Not only is Pilsen a charming city with a beautiful town square, the Bolevec Ponds, and its many parks, but it is also a super fun location to check out with your partner.  In this post by Red White Adventures, you will find a 2-day itinerary for a couples getaway in Pilsen.

Day 1: Viewpoints, relaxation, and a brewery tour

On this first day in Pilsen, you’ll be seeing some of the best viewpoints in Pilsen, enjoy lots of delicious food and beer, and of course, some nice and relaxing downtime together.

Hiking up St Bartholomew Cathedral

The first item on your itinerary is to visit the St Bartholomew Cathedral at the town square. Start by going into the cathedral and admiring the details and the beautiful stained glass windows before heading up the church tower. From the church tower, you can enjoy a beautiful 360-degree view of the city of Pilsen and the surrounding area at a height of 60 meters.

Get coffee and lunch at Terraza Rooftop Bar

After taking in the view from the top of the cathedral, it only seems fitting that you’ll find a spot where you can enjoy a view of the cathedral itself. Terraza Rooftop Bar is the perfect place to visit during the warm summer months . Enjoy a nice cup of coffee as well as a yummy lunch while taking in the view.

Enjoy a nice and relaxing massage or a trip to the spa

What’s a couples getaway without a trip to the spa or a nice and relaxing massage? In Pilsen, you will find that there are lots of options for a perfect spa experience. Pick between a Beer spa at the Purkmistr Brewery, Samui Thai massage, or one of the many other spas in town. Click here to see all of our tips on wellness and relaxation in Pilsen.

Take a tour of the famous Pilsner Urquell Brewery

You can’t go to Pilsen without a trip to the world-famous brewery, Pilsner Urquell Brewery where you can go on a guided tour where you can see the brewery and learn about the history behind the pilsner beer. The tours finish with an unfiltered and unpasteurized beer straight from a barrel and it is so good!

Have a romantic dinner at Pizzeria Da Pietro

What cuisine is more romantic than Italian? In Pilsen, you can enjoy some of the best pizza in all of the Czech Republic at Pizzeria Da Pietro. The owner went to Italy to learn how to perfect the craft of pizza making and brought it back to Pilsen. The majority of the ingredients are still imported from Italy which gives it that authentic raste. Top it up with a glass of wine and you might just have the recipe for the best date ever. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Day 2: Go for a bike ride in nature and explore one of Pilsen’s hidden gems

Eat breakfast at Le Frenchie Cafe

There are so many good cafés in Pilsen that it is hard to pick where to go. However, Le Frenchie cafe makes some really yummy brunch meals along with their excellent coffee. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and you can pick between two different locations: the one by the town square or the one by the park, Smetanovy Sady.

Bike to the Bolevec Ponds

Another thing that is so great about Pilsen is how close to nature is. Not far from the city center, you will find the Bolevák recreational area and the Bolevec Ponds. Rent a bike and ride to the Bolevec Ponds or take public transport and walk around the ponds and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Enjoy a nice picnic in the park or stop somewhere for a coffee.

Explore the Pilsen historic underground tour

When you come back to Pilsen, it’s time for some fun and exploring. The historic underground of the Pilsen tour is a must-do for anyone who visits the city. The underground tour will take you underneath the city center where you will see the tunnel system that has been built over hundreds of years. You will also learn about the history behind why the people of Pilsen built these tunnels and what they were used for. The tour comes with a beer voucher so you can end it with a beer at the pub next door with the people you meet on your tour or by yourselves. If you didn’t bring a picnic to the park, this is also a great place to have a classic Czech meal for lunch.
