Celebratory lighting of the Christmas tree
The time before Christmas in Pilsen is truly magical, and that’s in part thanks to the traditional Christmas market on Republic Square, which is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the area. An unmistakable Christmas atmosphere is created by the unique wooden bell tower, the live Nativity Scene, and, most importantly, the Christmas tree, which dominates the square together with St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral. Every year, the Christmas tree is lit on the first Advent Sunday, which falls on December 3rd this year. A rich accompanying programme has been prepared, led by various Pilsen ensembles and singer Tereza Mašková.
