Slavic carnival at the Old Farmhouse “U Matoušů”

Each year before Lent, lively celebrations take place known as “crazy days”. Or, as they’re better known today, the Slavic carnival. This tradition is commemorated in Pilsen’s Bolevec neighbourhood. Starting at 10h, a masked procession will set off for the Old Farmhouse “U Matoušů” to receive permission to initial the carnival. Then, accompanied by the Folk Ensemble of Songs and Dances JISKRA, the parade will make its way around the buildings on the Bolevec village square. By 16h, the procession will bury Dionysus at the farmhouse. A rich accompanying programme will follow the celebration, including pig-roast-related dishes and children’s workshops.
